A key piece of information required by partner countries in aligning aid to the budget is the accountable organisation. For on-budget aid this is usually the government ministry, department or agency with whom the memorandum of understanding for an activity has been agreed, and under whose Vote, or Sub-Vote the activity appears in the budget.
IATI recommends that accountable organisations are reported wherever applicable - particularly (but not only) for on-budget aid.
This is done using (for example) <participating-org role="Accountable">Ministry of Mines</participating-org>.
NB. Work on organisation identifiers for government ministries is incomplete (and the subject of a session at this workshop) so there is currently no way of identifying these organisation other than by name.
